DoKorder 1120 Reel-to-Reel
This is a quarter-track, two-speed reel-to-reel deck made by the Denki Onkyo Company of Japan. The features include sound on sound, echo capabilities, source / tape monitoring, solenoid operated transport, three motors and three heads, EQ and bias switches for normal or special tape and it can accommodate reels up to 10½". I purchased this reel-to-reel new in 1976 and it has been working flawlessly for 33 years and it has never been in the shop for any type of repair. I do oil the motors once a year per the manual specifications. This reel-to-reel plays music with a much richer, brighter and enhanced sound than most CD player I have heard, and if the music was recorded with a DBX noise reduction system, there is nothing that can compare to the quality of the sound. This is why every music collector I have ever met still purchases their music, even today, either on reel-to-reel or Vinyl, and yes, one record manufacturer, United Record Pressing, out of Nashville has started back making Vinyl LPs for marketing, approximately 4,000 a day. This is an actual picture of my DoKorder 1120. The price when new was $665.00; as far as my vintage reel-to-reels, I could not part with them.
